Matty proposed on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 in Walnut Creek, California.  He told me that he wanted to get our parents together for dinner and show them the bar where we met.  I should have assumed something was up, but I honestly thought there was no way he could have purchased an engagement ring without tipping me off.  When we got to Walnut Creek, both sets of parents were "running late." We stopped and grabbed a drink while we watched some of the Warriors game, before Matty suggested that we walk over to Walnut Creek's Christmas in the Park.  I was delighted at the prospect, because, of course, I love, love, love Christmas.  When we entered the park, there was a lit gazebo just ahead and Matty guided us in that direction.  When we stepped into the center of the gazebo he said to me that it was a such a nice spot, he might actually consider slow dancing with me (a request I often make in our kitchen, at the grocery store, or on random Tuesdays).  I was shocked.  He said, "I love you," to which I responded, "I love you too."  Then he asked me to ask him "how much" - a question I often pose when I'm being a brat and want him to tell me how much he loves me.  His standard response is typically, "a decent amount."  But on this night, he said "this much," as he got down on his knee and pulled out the ring.  I think I was in shock as I have no idea what he said next, but I know I eventually said yes as he put the ring on my finger.

Matty's friend Jeff caught the engagement on film as well as captured some candids.
